Webinar Update: Malaria Operational Research and Program Evaluation Priorities

With the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) in Senegal, the PMI Insights Project conducted a broad stakeholder consultation process with national malaria programs, researchers, and implementing partners from malaria-endemic countries in sub-Saharan Africa to gather perspectives on pressing evidence gaps in malaria strategy and guidelines, and priority operational research (OR) and program evaluation topics (PE) to address the identified gaps. The process was carried out with the aim of identifying a set of country-driven and locally prioritized OR and PE priorities. With input from malaria experts from 26 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, the consultative process resulted in a prioritized list of 33 OR and PE topics spanning the areas of prevention, chemoprevention, case management, surveillance, monitoring and evaluation, and other crosscutting themes.

On June 16, 2022, the PMI Insights Project hosted a webinar to share details about the research prioritization process, the prioritized list of OR and PE topics, and the vision for addressing the identified research priorities.
